I wandered around the fairground. Looking, looking but not finding. I know he’s here. I saw him not ten minutes ago. Where did he go?
I decide to go up on the ferris wheel. I can search for him when I reach the top. Up, up I go swinging to and fro. All alone, couples on every other car but me. I’m all alone. Up, up I go until I reach the top. I swing my legs and stare out at the sights before my eyes.
The sky is full - full of pinks, reds and purples. I know that it will soon turn to black when the sun finishes slowly sinking. I have to find him now. When it gets too dark I may never find him.
I lean over the bar and look down, way down. I forget for a minute that I’m afraid of heights. There he is I see him over by the bumper cars. I have to get down now. I have to go to him. He is my everything and I can’t live without him. Hurry, hurry let me down please. Now, now I need to get down now!
Where is he going? I’m up here, up here. Don’t you see me? Can’t you hear me? He’s standing under the roller coaster. I keep screaming his name at the top of my lungs. “Tommy, Tommy, here I am. Look can’t you see me?”
He’s not even looking up. Why won’t he look at me? The ferris wheel is moving again. I run, run as fast as my legs will carry me. It’s almost as if I can fly. No one is getting in my way. People seem to ebb and flow with my flight. I hurry, hurry but alas he’s gone. Why won’t he wait? Why doesn’t he stop until I reach him?
Now I have to run, run again. I look everywhere. Where did he go? There he is, no that’s not him. Over there. No not him again. I need to find him. I need to find him soon. He is my all, my everything. I can’t live without him. I have to find him.
I run faster. Faster and faster. I’m running in circles. It is getting so dark. So very, very dark.
There he is. He is so sad. The look on his face makes me want to cry. Why is he sad? What is the matter?
I reach out to envelop him in a hug but my arms just go right through him. “Tommy, Tommy why can’t I touch you? Why can’t I hold you? Hold me, Tommy, please hold me. I need you to touch my face and let me know it’s all okay. I need you to make me warm.”
What is he looking at? Why is he crying? What’s that on the ground? Why is Bill holding Tom up? He’s sobbing. “Tommy, Tommy I’m here. Why won’t you look at me?”
Why can’t he see me? What is wrong? Why can’t I touch his perfect face? Why can’t I kiss his beautiful lips? Why can’t I hold him and tell him its okay? Everything’s going to be okay.
Will it be okay? What is that on the ground? It…it looks like me. How can I be lying on the ground when I’m standing right here? What’s happening?
Everything is fading, fading, fading, fading. Darkness is covering my face like a shroud. He is starting to fade from my eyes. Why? Why can’t I bring a smile to that striking profile. What is happening? Why can’t I see?
It’s so dark and so cold. Please can you get me a blanket? I’m so very cold. Ah, I think I’ll sleep now. I feel like I could sleep the sleep of the dead. “Tommy, Tommy, I love you.” He is sobbing uncontrollably now and I can’t help him. “Oh, Tommy, I’ll be back, I’ll be back.”
“Why Bill, why? It shouldn’t have happened. I wasn’t holding on tight enough. I couldn’t stop her from falling.”
“Tom, it’s not your fault. There was a malfunction and she was ejected. Not your fault, not your fault.”
Their voices are drifting away from my consciousness. I am getting warmer and all fuzzy. Almost like I’m drunk. I think I’ll just drift off for awhile. “Tommy, Tommy wait for me. I’ll be back.”
But I’ll never be back, I realize. I will never be able to hold my Tommy again. Never be able to feel his strong arms around me, never feel the touch of his lips on my forehead, never feel his fingers tracing patterns on my arm.
I will never know what life could have been. I will never hear my heart beating, never feel it pounding so hard when he touches me. Never hear his sweet voice singing in my ear. Never see his quirky smile lighting up his face when I walk into the room.
I…feel…myself…drifting….drifting…into oblivion. “Goodbye, my love, I will watch over you and keep you safe. Remember I love you.”
I kiss his cheek one last time. He has a look of wonder on his face. He feels his cheek with his hand and starts to cry again. “Goodbye my Tommy, goodbye. I will wait for you in heaven.”

Bill
Bill
My life is twirling like a dervish
my mind in so much turmoil
my heart is stuck in rewind
and my anger's at a boil.
You wanted me to love you
and I did the best I could
but I didn't want to love you
even though you were so good.
You chased me and you chased me
till I got so gawd damn scared
that I'd fall for you in seconds
although I prayed I would be spared.
From hurting you too deeply
and tearing your heart in two
or maybe causing other strifes
I seem to be good at that too.
I know I'm sorry means nothing
and I know it never will
so please find someone better
please find someone Bill.

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 23
Sable's POV (continued)
This is one heck of a tight squeeze. Aron is so close to me I can almost get in his pocket. I'll turn so my back is to him. That's better now I don't have him staring me in the face. I'm going to peek out and see what's going on. Another minion of Zeernebooch. I can't see it well enough to know which one but it doesn't matter because I don't feel like facing any of his underlings. Aron is so close I can feel his breath on the back of my neck. If Rom wasn't here who knows what might happen. Thank the Goddess that we aren't alone.
Aron's POV
This is not going to work. I can smell the clean scent of her hair and I'm so close that I'm sure she can feel my need for her. She is the sexiest woman I've ever met. Sable, my love, nobody holds a candle to you. Go ahead, Aron, say it and you'll probably end up squashed like a bug by both Rom and Sable. I have to move onto my stomach or she's going to know what I'm thinking really soon. Damn, there isn't enough room. Okay, think sad thoughts. There that's better. I wish I could rearrange myself but like I said, no room. The, whatever it is this time, is making a lot of noise out there. It probably has our scent but can't quite place where it's coming from. I can see its feet through the hole we crawled in to. We are all holding our breath now. It sounds like its moving away, good it’s given up on us.
Sable’s POV
It’s time to get out of this spot and out of this cave. I crawl out and Aron and Rom follow me. We look all around and can’t see anything so we hurry to get out of there before something else appears. “Okay, it’s time to find out how to get out of here and head for home. I suggest we search for the exit.”
Rom’s (POV)
“Sable, wait up. I know the way out. Follow me.” I lead them out of the cave and into the light. “Okay, we’re safe now. Time to head for home. Sable, I know you have questions for me but can we hold them until we get to the house please?”
“Okay, Rom but when we get there you will tell us everything, you hear me?”
Three very tired, dishevelled and dirty human beings arrived at the house in no time at all. I must say, it was great to see the old house again. Now, I really felt like I was home.
Willy’s POV
Someone’s on the porch and now the door is opening. Oh my Goddess, it’s Rom, Sable and Aron. “Rom, Rom, is it really you?” I said as I stared into his face. This couldn’t be happening, could it? He’s dead, isn’t he? And Sable and Aron are still here in the house so how can they be in front of me? I look over to the couch where Sable is lying and to my amazement she’s not there anymore. I suppose Aron won’t be where I put him either. Nope, I was right. “Okay, someone better start explaining soon or I think I’m going to go out of my mind.”
Sable’s POV
“Okay, I’ll start and then we can all hear Rom’s story. Aron and I had an out of body experience I believe, which seemed very real. The Goddess has such strong powers that I’m sure she had a hand in this and I’m assuming we were the ones chosen to bring Rom home.”
Rom’s POV
“Okay, now it’s time for me to explain what has been happening. Sable, you are right, you and Aron you were sent to bring me back. I was being held as a prisoner by Balban in that cave. He put me in a state of suspended animation that I couldn’t break free of. I needed you both to come and kill him so that I could get out of there.”
“Who did we bury?”
“Oh Sable, it was just a bunch of rocks. I’m so sorry I couldn’t tell you but I was under the Evil One’s power. It feels like I’ve been sleeping for forever but I know it hasn’t been too long.”
“Anyway, I’m grateful that you pulled me out of the mess I was in. The Goddess let me know that this was going to happen, she just didn’t say when. It feels good to be awake again. I guess when you killed Balban that broke the spell that was on me. What’s been happening since I left?”
Willy’s POV
“What hasn’t happened while you’ve been away? Aron and Sable ended up passing out on me and I didn’t know what was happening to them until you all showed up. Brenin is getting much better. He and his family are out in one of the outbuildings. Let’s go see them. Brenin will be thrilled to see you all.”
I can’t believe how this is turning out. What more is going to happen? We better stay together if we’re going to fight the Darkness and the Evil One and his minions. I’m just so glad that we’re all together again. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

In Your Shadow
I walk through the blackness to the centre of the stage. I feel the crowd's energy pounding through my veins. "Bill, Bill, Bill." they chant in high-pitched shrieks. Their screams drown out everything around me until the next thing I know I am surrounded by my bandmates. The yells from the crowd appear to be getting louder and more shrill. Tokio Hotel, Tokio Hotel they yell. I can hear them but can't see them. The blackness seems complete. Mein Gott, that spotlight is blinding. I forgot to turn my head again. It happens every time. "Smirk Tom, go ahead." I say to my brother. I can hear Georg snickering to my left and good old Gustav had to do a drumroll. They always make fun of me when I got caught by that damn light.
I see Tom grab his guitar and thread the strap over his shoulder. He grabs his pick and he's ready to go. The screams are getting more deafening. Georg waits patiently for the opening number to begin as Gustav bangs his sticks together. One, two, three four.
I start singing.
I hate my life.
I can't sit still
for one more single day,
I've been here waiting,
for something to live and die for
Let's run and hide.
Out of touch
out of time,
Just get lost without a sign.
As long as you stay by my side
In your shadow I can shine..
In your shadow I can shine..
In your shadow I can shine..
Shine...
I get lost in this song. It's one of my favourite to perform. I love to just sit on the stage and gaze out at the fans while I'm singing. Then I get twitchy and I have to move. I can't sit still for too long. I have no patience. I have to wander the stage.
You see my soul,
I'm a nightmare,
out of control I'm crashin'
into the dark,
Into the room,
into the world,
of our cocoon.
You are the sun and
I am the moon.
In your shadow I can shine..
In your shadow I can shine..
In your shadow I can shine..
Shine..
The words can always get to me and I can see that it's getting to quite a few of the fans as well. As I turn the microphone in the direction they start singing the chorus. They feed my drive to succeed. They feed my need for gratification. They fill my need for approval. They fill my desire for exaltation. They pump my ego.
Dont let go!
Oh, no oh.
Don't you know
In your shadow I can shine
In your shadow I can shine
In your shadow I can shine
Shine, shine, shine
In your shadow I can shine
In your shadow I can shine
In your shadow I can shine
Shine, shine, shine
In your shadow I can shine..
They fill my soul with peace and joy. They lift me to the very heights of bliss and plummet me swiftly to the ground. They keep me humble (not) and thankful every day. They teach me to never take it for granted.
So every time we come out on a stage it is in honour of all of our many fans. The fans who have been with us from the start all those many years ago and the new fans who are just falling in love with our music for the first time. It makes me thankful for each and every one of these fans. They have stood by us through thick and thin, through sickness and health. Just like a marriage. They complete us and make us grateful that we can reach them in some small way.
They are our everything and it means everything to us that we have their love and support. They are our reason for being and our reason for being here. "Okay boys, let's give them the best damn show we can. Are you having a good time out there?"

You Are My All My Everything
That's exactly what you all are
My All and Everything in each and
Every way possible I don't know if
I could do it by myself because
The world is a lonely and scary
Place but with friends like
You and you and you and all
Of you I never have the chance
To feel alone anymore and for
That I thank you from the
Bottom of my heart and
The tips of my toes to the
Top of my head you will
Always have a special place
In my heart and in heaven
and on earth and everywhere
I am and ever will be always
Remember what you've done
And how you've all impacted
One life imagine this is just one
Life and you all affect so many
More than just me so they
Can't speak right now so I'll
Speak for all of us and just
Say thank you from the soul
Of my being.

Shattered
You were my all my everything my
whole life is like a bowl of cherries
But don't swallow the pit and the
Pendulum swings back and forth
Forth and back to the past is
What everybody wants or is it
Forward to the past is a rite
Of passage for anyone who is
Too stupid to care what happens
When someone is so shattered
By your disapproval that all
They want to do is cry and
Dance into the night
Mare and bad dreams of the
Future or maybe creep into
Your head and surround your
Thoughts with death and having
Noone to talk with or confide
In the room that I have in my
Heart shaped cookies were the
One thing you loved more than
Anything else except me you
Said but then you always
Lied I just never caught you
Until it was too late but your
Her problem now and I'm left
With only a bad taste in my
Mouth and thankfulness that
You left when you did before
I might have had to
Kill you.

Something Cheerful
You wanted me to write something
Cheerful and full of joy for all the
World to see and maybe laugh
At I wouldn't doubt that they
Would because that always
Happens to people who expect
Too much and believe in love
And life everlasting which of
Course I don't but that doesn't
Mean that I can't pretend to
Be something I'm not a real
Fake something I hate in
Anyone else but am willing to
Accept in myself too bad no
One else will ever make me
Feel anything ever again I
Guess I just can't write
Anything light and uplifting
Sorry.

Rotten
You creep up on me with your little kitty
Paws and you turn round and round until
You are comfortable enough to trash my
Mind and thoughts into a jumble of broken
Shards of dreams left lying on the floor
In a wet and soggy mess only for
Me to trip over as I'm trying to run away
From the evil that binds my heart with
Tight bands that ever shrink and
Cause me no end to the grief that
Engulfs my heart and encases my
Body in a cement cast from head to
Toe it restricts my movements and
Allows time to flow in a soft pattern
Up and around my head in and
Out up and down over and done
With all the negative things that
Keep encroaching on the
Nothingness that is my life and
Times are going by so fast that I
Need a calculator in my brain so I
Don't forget to add up all the
Problems that I've been having
Lately everything seems to be going
Out of style humour, sex and politics
Keep it all in the family because
That's the safest way to get to
School is for innocent babies and
Obscure grown ups who never
Find the time to have fun anymore
Even when they are laughing they
Aren't having any fun 'cause they're
Always thinking about the next deal
And the end result of the latest
State of the art picture frame sitting
On the edge of your seat watching
The movie start to lose it's way up
On the big screen your dates carefully
In case they rot before you get them home.

I Can't Stop Loving You
Today is the first day I have spent without you since it happened
How am I supposed to get through any more empty spaces
In time that seem to envelop me and try to drown out the
Screaming that comes from the brain that fries inside the interior
Of the orifice that resides on the top of this flesh coloured vessel
That I have to live in
What makes you think that you're the only one who has a
Problem that won't seem to go away and just when you
Think it has you find that it was a trick of your
Imagination and that your nightmares are going to
Explain it all to you once they fall back to earth
The first day of spring and everything seems so
Peaceful and full of life sprouting from out of the
Pavement and yards alike only to find themselves
Mowed down by a horrendous machine that makes
More noise than a shrew of a mother-in-law or
Yanked out of your very bed by the tiny
Hands of the humans who inhabit the netherworld
What about yesterday is it worth contemplating
About or is it just a waste of time and money that
Does not grow on trees or so my mother used
To tell me while I was residing in the house of
My parents until I could escape and enter the
House of my own mistakes and horrors
A house of horrors which is sometimes called
Tomorrow never comes and maybe yesterday
Never came at all and was a figment of
My imagination for which I expect to get
Punished as usual because everything
Is my fault even if I wasn't home when
It happened and even if it wasn't my fault
The torture is in my head they tell me
But how do they know do they have
Easy access to the inner workings of an
Eccentric mind and a tortured body that
Fails me sometimes when you come
Close and I can't turn you away because
Dear God I can't stop loving you.
Dream
If life were but a dream
And people not so fake
Then love would never hurt
And hearts would never break.
We'd all go through life
With smiles on our faces
Waiting for someone
To put us through our paces.
The ups and the downs
The highs and the lows
We all have to accept
Those that we chose.
Whether good or bad
Whether wrong or right
There's someone for everyone
To make our hearts light.
Sometimes there's more than one
Who enters your domain
And deals a hand that bruises
And causes so much pain.
That you want to tear your hair out
And run screaming down the street
But you can't because you're too civilized
And other things I can't repeat.
So always be your own best friend
And you will never be alone
If things get rough well what do you do
You dial someone on your cellphone.
And people not so fake
Then love would never hurt
And hearts would never break.
We'd all go through life
With smiles on our faces
Waiting for someone
To put us through our paces.
The ups and the downs

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Sable's POV
"Come on Aron, get that bag packed, we have to get going." Men can be so slow sometimes. Good thing I don't like him very much. Who am I trying to kid? Of course I like him. He's gorgeous. Blonde hair, big brown eyes, gorgeous body, what's not to like? Okay Sab let's get our act together here. This is a cave not a night out on the town with a gorgeous, hunky man. Stop it, get your head together. "Let's go." The faster we get moving the faster this thing is over and we can get on with our lives or not as the case may be.
We head out into the main tunnel. I choose to turn to the right and proceed in that direction for about three minutes. Up ahead there's a fork in the tunnel. Left, right, which direction do we go in? "Okay Aron make a decision. Which direction? Do we take the left fork or the right one?"
"Great, you don't trust me with anything else but you're gonna be so kind as to have me make the decision whether we live or die? That's great, Sable. Left we die, right we live, left we live, right we die. Thank you very much!"
What's up with him? He's been so irritable since we woke up this morning. Who pissed in his cornflakes? "Chill out Aron, it's not like I'm asking you to stand up and be shot. Just pick left or right. What's the big deal? Can't you make a little decision? Never mind I might as well do it myself. I stomp over to the left fork and continue walking. We've been walking about ten minutes and the walk is getting harder. The incline has been getting steeper and steeper. The going is getting really rough. Damn, I trip. What was that? Aron shines the flashlight in front of me and I almost pass out. What the hell is going on?
Aron's POV
Why is she flipping out on that guy? She's gone completely stark raving mad. She's crying and screaming and beating him on the chest. She's yelling out Rom's name. It can't be him can it? Isn't he supposed to be dead? I look at Sable and she's sobbing and clutching his shirt front.
"Sable, are you okay?" Why am I frightened with what her answer might be?
Sable's POV
Rom but how can that be. "You..you're dead." I touch his face. It feels real. It is real. Real flesh. I touch it again and again. It really is my Rom back from the dead. "How, why, when...?"
"It's okay Sable it really is me. It's a long story but introduce me to your friend and I'll explain it all soon."
"Rom, this is Aron. Aron, my brother Rom." I throw my arms around his neck and squeeze him as tightly as I can. I never want to let him out of my sight again. "What happened? How can you possibly be here?"
Rom's POV
How much do I tell her? I have to be very careful how much I disclose. I push her gently away and gaze into her eyes. She looks great, haunted, but great. "I was in a state of suspended animation believe it or not. It wasn't me in the coffin just a pile of rocks. I'm sorry Sable but I couldn't tell you. The Goddess gave me instructions that I wasn't to tell you until now."
"But where have you been all this time? How come you haven't let me know until now? And why are you in a cave with us when I haven't seen you in months. I don't know whether to kiss you or throttle you."
"Aw come on Sabe. You know I couldn't have told you or the Goddess would have had my head. She can be very persuasive you know."
"Regardless, you should have told me."
"I know Sable but it was completely out of my hands kid. I had no say in the matter. Besides I couldn't appear in solid form until now so you wouldn't have seen me anyway. You would only have felt my aura."
"Well, it would have been better than nothing. Shh." I listen very carefully, there's something coming and it sounds like something huge. I don't think I want to be in the way of whatever is coming toward us. I frantically look left and right for an excape route. We have to find a hiding place and we have to find it real fast. The sounds are getting closer. What's that smell?
Sable's POV
"Do you guys smell that?" I have to whisper because I don't want whatever it is to hear me. Although how it could hear anything over all the noise it was making I don't know. Rom and Aron are nodding. I turn right around and spy a small aperture close to the floor of the left hand wall. I bend down and peer inside. I motion for Aron to shine the flashlight inside. It would be a tight fit for all three of us in the enclosure but we don't have any other choice. We have to hide somewhere and we have to do it quickly. I push Rom in first and then Aron tries to make me follow Rom but I push harder and make Aron go first. I quickly followehim inside. It's a tight squeeze but the sounds are almost upon us so we try to slow our breathing. If whatever it is finds us in here it will be easy pickings for it and goodbye to us.

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Sable's POV
Oh my aching head. My mouth feels like the Army marched through it with muddy boots on. Did I really drink all that wine? What is that vise around my waist? Oh my Goddess, it's Aron. What is he doing in my bed? "HEY, WAKE UP YOU! ARON, WAKE UP. Why are you in my bed and why do you have your arm around me?"
"Oh sorry, but there's only one bed and we have to share. I was cold and so I just curled up to you because you were toasty warm. I'm sorry, it won't happen again. I'll sleep with my back to you next time."
"Next time, what do you mean next time? There won't be a next time." I stand up and realize that I'm down to my knickers and bra. "Who undressed me and don't tell me it was you?"
"I guess I've got nothing to say then."
"How dare you? Who gave you the right to take my clothes off?"
"What was I supposed to do? Put you to bed in what you were wearing? You had wine spilled all down you and I'm sure that wouldn't have been fun to sleep in. But don't you worry your pretty little head none. I will never do it again. You can be sure of that."
The nerve, who does he think he is? Men! They can't be trusted. I can't be trusted because I like the way his arm felt when it was around my waist. I'm really nervous about where my feelings and thoughts about him are going. I guess it's safe, he's not totally human. Maybe I won't make someone die this time. Please Goddess, I don't want to fall for him if he doesn't feel the same way about me and I don't think he does.
Aron's POV
What is up with her? You'd think I attacked and raped her for Goddess's sake. All I did was remove her outer clothes. It's not like I did anything inappropriate, even if every ounce of my being wanted to touch her all over. She is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. Goddess, please make sure my willpower stays strong!
"Okay Sable, what now? While you're thinking about that I'll check the backpack to see whatever goodies I can find for breakfast. Oh look, orange juice, bread, cheese, fruit, coffee; everything anyone could want. What would you like?"
"Just some juice and a piece of fruit please. Where are my clothes please?"
I put them over...where did they go? "I don't know where they are. I put them over beside you and now they're gone."
"You'll have to find them because I can't continue in a bra and panties."
"Why not?" Did I say that out loud? You ass Aron, give the girl a break. You're sounding like such a letch.
"You're a pig! Check the backpack and see if there's anything in there."
Women, you can't live with them, you can't live without them. "Here's a t-shirt and jeans. No shoes though, but yours are at the end of the bed."
"Um thanks."
She is going to drive me crazy. I'm just not sure how to take her. Does she like me or not? I wish I could read her mind. Why hasn't she read my thoughts before now? Is there a reason she isn't slapping my face right now? "Sable can you tell what I'm thinking?"
"No, I can't seem to do it in this part of the cave. I don't know why but there must be some kind of field around this section that doesn't allow me to see your thoughts."
That's a relief. I'll have to make sure I watch what I'm thinking when we leave this part of the cave. I'll have to test her and see. How do I get everything back into the bag? Oh I see it just fits no matter how much you stuff in it. I've got to get me one of these bags. Probably never need it if we don't make it out of here.

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Aron's POV
She's so beautiful, she makes my heart stop. Red hair and green eyes and stubborn to boot. I bet she fights like a tiger in bed too. Where did that come from? Aron, clean up your mind, you don't want to scare the girl. She looks so fragile sitting there bathed in the orange glow that surrounds us. She looks like a princess in a strange castle. My heart is beating so fast I bet she can hear it. I can feel myself start to twitch so I quickly sit down in the chair and cover my lap with my forearm. "So Sable, where do you think all this came from?"
"I don't know and I don't care, is there another bottle of wine in there? I seem to have an empty glass and the bottle's empty too."
I never even noticed her drinking so much. I was so concerned with filling my stomach I didn't pay any attention to her at all. She's getting smashed. I'll just humour her and look in the bag and show her there isn't anymore wine. "Where did that come from?" I couldn't believe it there was another bottle of the same wine and it was already opened. Damn, Sable spied it before I could tuck it back in. "Now Sable you shouldn't grab things. Didn't your mother ever teach you manners?" Damn woman, she's really getting under my skin. I want to feel her fingers in my hair and then running down my bare chest. Woh up cowboy. Get that horse back in the barn. You will not make a fool of yourself in front of this woman. What am I talking about? I make a fool in front of this woman twenty different times a day. What's one more? I'm really in over my head. I swore this would never happen to me. Come to me wine, I need something to boulster my confidence. Oh hell, just get it over with. I'm going to go for it. I'm going to turn right around and kiss her. Oh Sable, you're drunk and asleep. You poor baby. Okay what else is in this magic bag? Great a comforter, mattress, sheets, pillows and a hot water bottle. I looooooooove this bag. "Just a minute Sable honey, I'm getting a bed ready for you. I'll come and get you in a minute. Go back to sleep." What's that she's mumbling? "No Aron. I don't want you to die." Die, what does she mean die? I won't die so I don't have to worry. Do I?
Sable's POV
The cheese is so good, rich and creamy. The grapes and strawberries taste like they were grown in Summerland. They probably were. I'm so nervous. How many glasses of wine have I had anyway? I'm feeling pretty woozy. Oh lookie, Aron has another bottle. Well, you come to mommy little bottle. I have a friend for you to meet; my lips. Come to momma. Oh hell, I might as well drink out of the bottle. I can't seem to get it in the glass and I wouldn't want to waste any more of it. I'm am feeling so lightheaded. I wonder why I can't read Aron's mind anymore? Maybe it's because of the glow in here. I'll have to wait and see when we leave if it comes back. On to more important matters, I think I'll have another swig out of the bottle. I think I'm starting to slur my thoughts. Oh, oh, I see Aron coming towards me. He's coming closer and closer. His lips are only a fraction of an inch from mine when he tells me he loves me. I scream at him "No Aron, I don't wat you to die." Getting dark, feeling sick, room starting to sway, pretty colours, wow what a light show, feel like I'm being swung round and round in circles. Oh thank the Goddess blessed oblivion.
Aron's POV
What is going through her mind. She smells like a winery. Better get the bed set up. I see they only sent us one, great. I hate fitted sheets, whoever invented these things should be shot. Why can women seem to do this with their closed? That's good enough nobody's going to see the wrinkles. Two pillows and I hate pillow cases. The same person who invented fitted sheets probably invented the pillow cases to double your anger. That'll have to do. I am not Suzy Homemaker. "Okay Sable my love, come with Uncle Aron and he's going to put you to beddy-bye. That's a girl, just lean on me. I'll look after you sweetheart. You'll always be safe with me." Where did that come from? Who am I trying to kid? Just put her to bed and be done with it. I'll just take off her shoes and put the comforter over her. There sleep my princess. I shall guard you with my life.

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Sable's POV
An adventure, he thinks we're going on an adventure? He's right it will be scary. I read his mind! I'm only supposed to do that with others like us. I wondered when he was attacked if he was one of us and now I have proof.
"Aron, I know you're scared but even if we die at least we'll get to hopefully save mankind from the prophecy."
"What's the prophecy?"
"Not time to tell you yet. You'll have to wait. Just be assured that we will have a great impact on what will happen to the world and humankind. We need to come up with a plan and make it work. We're coming up to another room, so we shouldn't speak until we know what's in there. Walk behind me slowly."
I put my hand up to stop him and we stand there trying to listen. I think I hear breathing but I'm really not sure. I know I hear something. Aron tensed and I think he heard it too. He looks at me and nods his head, he does hear it. We wait and listen for what seems like hours but is probably only seconds. There is something rustling and snorting up ahead. Gross. I peek my head around the corner and it is gross. Another demon. What a surprise! This one is a giant dog, no wonder the snorting. It is about ten feet tall and two feet wide. It's teeth are about six inches long and really sharp. Sure don't want to feel those anytime soon. I motion to Aron that we should back out of here quickly and quietly. If we can avoid these things then more power to us. I lead Aron to another tunnel and start heading in that direction.
Aron's POV
That thing/dog/whatever was enormous. I was shaking in my boots. I'm glad Sable didn't want to go in and beard that lion in it's den. Where is she leading me now? I just realized something I can see in the dark. I can actually see where I'm going. How can that be? I whispered, "Hey Sable, how come we can see in the dark?" She shushes me with a finger to her lips. Her lips, I love those lips. Snap out of it Aron. This is serious business here. She's slowing down and motioning me to stop. I'm getting exhausted, all this stress can't be good for me. I wish I had a pair of drumsticks to bang together. Great, Aron, banging drumsticks in a place where demons dwell. Smart idea buddy. Nobody ever called me S-M-R-T smart for nothing. I can't help it I really like this girl. I think that even if we don't have a future together the present is a wonderful place to be.
It feels like we've been walking for hours. I'd like to know where we're going to end up. It's getting colder now. I can see a light up ahead. It's almost like there's an orangy glow coming from that doorway. Quietly, quietly. I put my hand on Sable's shoulder and look around her to see one of the most amazing sights I've ever been priviledged to see. The colour is so vivid and the light, wow. It is so high and where is the light coming from?
Sable's POV
I wish he'd move his hand off my shoulder. It makes me feel uncomfortable almost twitchy. I don't like that feeling one bit. Who am I fooling, I love that feeling. I don't know how Aron feels but I'm exhausted. I think we should stop here for a few hours of down time. "Aron I think we should rest for awhile. There doesn't seem to be anything in here and I can't feel anything close by so we should be safe for a little while. Sit down or wander as you see fit."
I wish he'd quit looking at me like that. He makes me very nervous. His big brown eyes are liking pools of chocolate pudding, oops I think I may be hungry. Yup there goes my stomach growling. I wish we had something to eat. Wait, Aron has a backpack on. Where did that come from? These out of body experiences freak me out every time.
"Aron look in your backpack and see if there's any food in there?" Why is he looking at me like I'm stupid? Yeah bright boy, you get a cookie for finding the bag on your back. "Well open it. Is there any food in there?"
He's pulling out a shiny silver foil-like blanket. I grab it and lay it down in front of us. "Okay, what's next?" He proceeds to pull out a bottle of wine, loaf of french bread, cheese, cutting board, cheese knife, corkscrew, two crystal (crystal I tell you) wine flutes, two plates (not paper either), grapes, strawberries, fresh butter, knives, forks, olives (great big juicy green olives with garlic in the middle), chocolate, a vase with yellow roses in it, a small table and two chairs, tablecloth and coffee, cream and sugar. (Hey, this is my out of body experience and I'll do whatever I like. lol)
I help Aron set the table and while he opens the bottle of wine, I start putting the food on the plates and cutting the cheese and bread. I hadn't realized how starving I really was. What I really needed was a big glass of ice cold water, it was very dry in here. I shouldn't have said anything. "Thanks for the glass of water Aron. Oh, just the right temperature? How did you know?" Oh, oh, a little sarcasm there. I'd better keep my mouth shut and my eyes open. Like I said I feel a little nervous.

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Sable's POV
Where am I? This place is so dark. I wish either Willy or Aron would get some breath mints because their breath could stop a truck. Goddess, I wish they would move away from me. I'm going to pass out from the smell. That's not Willy or Aron, what is it? I can see it now and it's my old pal Balban. Has he been banished to the underworld? Is that where I am? I remember our last run in. He hasn't been around for many centuries. I thought I had destroyed him the last time. Am I delusional? I must be because I think I see Aron over by the entrance. It is Aron, what is he doing? He's going to get himself killed if Balban gets wind of him. I guess it's all up to me as usual.
I stand up very cautiously and grab for my athame, my knife. I can't believe I actually have it with me. Balban has his head turned, he must have heard Aron. Now's my chance.
Aron's POV
Oh my Goddess, Sable, it's Sable. What is she doing here? Someone must have heard my wish to have a companion on this journey. Oh, oh, It has seen me and I don't know where to run. What is Sable doing? No, no don't do it. It might kill you. She did it she stabbed It, right in the heart. What is it? It's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Good, it's falling and not getting up. "Is it dead, Sable?"
"Yes, Balban is finally dead."
"Its name was Balban?"
"Yes and this is the second time I have killed him so I can only hope that this time it takes. What are you doing here?"
"I was going to ask you the same question. I don't know how I got here but I think I'm having a dream or an out of body experience."
"I'm not sure but I think it' an out of body experience. Pinch me! Ow, that hurts. I guess I'm awake."
"Did you get here the same as me?"
"Probably although how Balban found me I don't know. He's not usually in the underworld."
"Underworld, this isn't any underworld it's just a big cave."
"No, Aron, it's not. You found the entrance to the underworld and you could have been attacked by almost anything. There are many denizens of the demon world wandering around looking for poor unsuspecting souls. We have to get moving in case anything is close by and heading in our direction. Let's head this way."
Aron's POV
She is just so beautiful. I can't take my eyes off her. Aron, snap out of it and get with the program. "What are we here for? Is there a purpose to this?"
"There's always a purpose to everything. I'm not sure what the purpose to this is though. We must have been sent here to accomplish something and I don't think it was the killing of Balban. He's such a small cog in a great big engine. Zeernebooch is the big cog."
"Who and what is Zeerne...whatever?"
"He is what we call the dark god and he's the monarch of the empire of the dead. I know all this must be hard to fathom to you but to me it is second nature. I've been doing this my whole life/lives and I'm starting to get real tired of all the BS. We are going to conquer this realm and all who reside in it."
Good, we're going in search of the resident demons of the underworld. This is just another walk in the park for Sable, but a scary adventure for me. I don't know why I got involved with these people but I'm beginning to wish I hadn't met them. Naw, that's wrong, I'm really glad I met them and wouldn't change anything. I guess it's time to get my shit together. I'm terrified for what we might find. Stop it Aron, you're such a chicken-shit. Get a grip. You have to be there for Sable even if she says she doesn't need you. Come to think of it, I need her more than she needs me. She's the toughest woman I've ever met.
"Shall we continue our journey? Let's see what's beyond the walls of this part of the cave. Look out you demons, here we come!"

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Aron's POV
Where am I? I ache from the top of my head to the bottom of my flat feet. I can't see anything. Over there on the left feels like a breeze. I think I'll head in that direction or should I? You know what they tell you in any scary movie, "Don't go into the dark cave!". But did I listen? Noooooo. I am a man of my word and I said I would protect Sable with my life and I intend to do just that. I think that there's something in here that I have to find and destroy. It must be one of the many demons on the earth. Someday there will be nothing left, not a demon in sight. I can only pray I live to see that day.
Willy's POV
Where have I been? Wherevever it is I don't want to keep going there. I need to catch my breath. I can't fall apart now when I'm the only one who seems to be conscious and mobile. What to do, what to do?
Aron is still out cold but he keeps twitching and moaning. I can't do anything for either him or Sable so I might as well check to see if everything is okay with the wolves. Brenin seems to be resting much easier. He's awake now and trying to move but it's too painful for him. "It's okay Bren. Good boy, just lay there and heal. You're strong and it shouldn't take long for you to be back to yourself again. I know Maebh, he will get better and then we will be able to figure out what we're going to do. It might be up to you and I who have to take on the demons. How do you feel about that?" She's howling at me so I guess she doesn't like it any better than I do. The pups are so quiet, it's almost unnatural. They should be running around and playing with each other but they just sit and look at their father. He has to get better soon so that we can go back to normal, whatever that is.
Aron's POV
Well as long as I'm here (whereever here is) I may as well explore. I approach the entrance with a lot of trepidation. I will admit it, I'm scared but don't tell Willy, he'd never let me live it down. Where did the flashlight come from that's in my hand? This is the weirdest dream I've ever had. Here we go. I'll just go really slowly and watch for anything strange. Keep your eyes open Aron, you have to be really vigilant now. No falling down on the job.
The entrance to the cave leads me to a large open space like a big room. There are long tendrils hanging from the ceiling and they don't look like any stalactite that I've ever seen. They are thinner and look like long drops of paint that are gently falling down. I want to grab a cloth and wipe up the drips. I wonder what they are? It almost looks like they are growing up instead of down. When I look at the ceiling it almost looks like the paint drip is falling up into a can of paint and causing ripples to flow.
There are four tunnels going off of this space and I'm going to have to guess which one would be the best one to go down. Eenie, meenie, miney, moe. Okay, the right one it is. I'm going to be talking to myself a lot today I can tell. I don't know if it will calm me down any but at least I won't feel so alone when I hear my voice. As long as I don't start answering myself I'll be okay.
'Let's turn the flashlight on and head down that tunnel. I wish I wasn't alone. I hate enclosed spaces (damn my claustrophobia). I don't know if I'm going to be able to do this. I wish I had someone with me but what the heck. I can do it, I know I can. Keep talking to yourself, Aron, maybe that will keep you sane.'
I keep walking down the right hand tunnel and it is really long. I can't see the end even with the light. How long could it possibly be? Oh no, another decision to make. This tunnel leads into two more. Left one it is. Where does this all lead? It's so quiet in here, spoke to soon. Something is moving up ahead. What can it be? It's getting louder so I'd better be quiet and walk more carefully. Just up ahead, getting closer, what is it? It almost sounds like something is being dragged. Better turn the flashlight off now. I have to creep now, careful, careful. I can see around the corner now but it's dark and I can't turn my flashlight back on in case it sees me. Whatever it is.
My eyes are getting used to the dark and I'm starting to make out shapes. It's another open space and I can see something moving over in the right corner. Wait, there are two shapes. One is lying on the ground and the other is standing over them. What are they? The one standing is a demon, it has to be, it is far too ugly to be human. Is that a person it's standing over or what? Oh my Goddess, it can't be? How did they get here and how do I help them?

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Sable's POV
Oh my gawd, what's happening with Aron? He just slithered out of the chair down onto the floor. "I don't know if he's breathing Willy. Help me straighten him out. Careful, he might have sprained something."
"Sprained something," Willy yelled. "How can you sprain something when you have slipped down a chair all of about six inches? Tell me that would you?"
"I...I...I didn't mean sprain, I meant bruised."
"Right, bruised. Uh huh.", he said sarcastically.
"Oh Willy, put a sock in it and help me lift Aron up so we can check to see if he's okay. Gently, gently, roll him over onto his back. Put the pillow under his head not on his face. Quit playing around. "Aron, Aron, can you hear me?" I give him a small swat on the left cheek but he doesn't move. "Aron, Aron, wake up." I say a little louder while giving him a small slap on the right cheek. Nothing. "Aron, Aron, there's a gorgeous naked blonde standing in front of you. You can wake up for her can't you?" Damn, nothing. "Okay Aron, this isn't funny anymore. You need to come back right now young man. I'm getting tired of you just falling asleep all the time. You need to start pulling your weight around here." I give him a resounding slap on his left cheek, I kept changing cheeks so he the red marks would be even on both sides. With that, Aron springs up into a sitting position and proceeds to give me a pretty good slap on my left cheek. All I can do is stare at him as he lays back down and rolls over onto his side and starts to snore. What the.....?
Willy's POV
It seems our Aron here will do anything to get attention from the fair Sable. Well I hate to say I told you so, but he has a hope in hell of getting anywhere near her heart if the past is any indication. "I guess we'll continue the conversation after Aron decides to come back to the real world!" I knew he was just faking, I just knew it. He had that look about him. I keep seeing his eyeballs moving under his eyelids and his fingers twitch once in a while. He has to be faking because if not then something has caused him to go from suddenly talking to coma in a matter of seconds. That just doesn't happen in real life. Does it?
"Sable how is your head?" I seem to be the only one holding up here today. I want to go back to yesterday. It was a lot easier then. Aron had no idea what was going to happen to him and Sable was going to enjoy being on the mountain for a couple of weeks before we had to face the battle. Looks like the battle may be coming to us. I'm not sure I like any of the scenarios I keep conjuring up in my head about the next few days. Not that we haven't done all this many times in the past but at least we were all four together through each life. This is the first life that there is only one, me. Tom/Rom is gone forever never to come back. I will miss him more than I've ever missed anyone. It feels like half of me is gone and I'm just a physical shell. It also means no more Tokio Hotel. There aren't enough of us left and I don't particularly want to play in a band where the bassist is a wolf. Somehow I don't see that type of band making it in show business. Ha, ha....
Sable's POV
There goes Willy again, off in never-never land. He gets this almost translucent look in his eyes and he seems to be staring at something either so terrifying or beautiful that he doesn't know how to react. Sometimes I think he will never grow up. He acts like a kid constantly, clowning and dancing around and clapping his hands. Sometimes I think he's a few bricks short of a load. I hate to think like that because I really love the big lug. He's been like another big brother to me. Thank the Goddess that he is still around. I'll think I'll just lay my head down and sleep for awhile.

Chapter 15
Willy's POV (continued)
"I went to answer it when suddenly the door flew open by itself. A huge gust of wind blew through the room but I couldn't see anyone at the door. The wind was freezing and we all shivered. I grabbed the door and slammed it shut. I didn't want to look out in the hall for fear of what I'd find. We now knew why we had been sent here, evil was brewing and we had to be conscious of everything going on around us. We all had to be very vigilant and prepared for anything."
"We decided to go and beard the lion in his den so to speak. We had to search for the evil entity soon. We left the hotel by the back entrance and thankfully no fans were there yet so we got away clean. We split up into two groups (thank heaven for cell phones) and agreed to keep in constant touch. Sable and I were in one group and the other three were together in the other. We headed off into the afternoon sun. We had to hurry, there were only a few hours until show time and we still had to do sound check."
"Sable and I headed south to Bitsevsky Park. This was a large (10 km by 4 km [about 6 x 2.5 miles]) forested area with many ravines. During the day it's a park for people to picnic and play games in but at night all kinds of strange beings inhabit the area. We got to the edge of the forest and turned our flashlights on. Luckily, at the last minute, Sable had thought to bring them along. We gingerly walked along a dark and dismal path. All the trees seemed to be reaching for us and trying to encase us in their limbs. We swatted them away time and time again. It seemed as if everything in this forest were coming alive and trying to impede our progress."
I pause and have a great big gulp of water. I need to take my mind off the memory for a minute. I don't what to have to remember anymore. It's too hard and I just want to curl up into a ball and die. I approach the living room window and gaze out at nothing which is perfect because that's exactly what I want to think of, nothing. Alas, back to the past we must go.
"About the time that we seemed to be fighting off every denizen of the forest, we heard shouts from our left. We hurried as fast as we could without killing ourselves and over the next rise we saw the other three stalwart youths coming toward us. I was never more happy to see anyone in my life and I'm sure Sable felt the same way. They say there's safety in numbers and we were just about to put that to the test. As we approached the middle of this overgrown tangle of festering flora and fauna we heard a sound like nothing I'd heard before. It was a cross between a howling mountain lion, a crashing wave and a screaming Tokio Hotel fan. It was horrid and I knew I'd heard it before. Many, many times. This was just the latest in a long line of meetings we'd had in the past. Of course 'It' has gone by many names over the centuries ( Baal - Christian demonology; Banshee - Irish; Furies - Roman; Gaki - Japanese, Wendigo - Native American, and too many more to mention). There has been a Queen of Demons who went by the name of Lilith."
I paused for another drink of water and a few deep breaths. I then continued the story.
"These demons had supernatural powers and they could levitate, possess, seduce and provocate. They want to harass, demoralize, confuse and disorient us. They say these demons can only be nullified by God but as we know there is no such thing, we have to find other ways to get rid of them. One of our ritual weapons is called an athame. It's a black handled knife that we use to aid us in cleansing the earth of evil spirits. I have used my own many times and expect to have to use it many more. We have all had to bear arms against these demons and many of us have the deep scars, both physical and emotional, to prove it. I myself have this," I say as I raise the back of my shirt to show Aron the long red puckered claw-like marks going from my left shoulder blade to my right hip bone. "It's okay, it looks worse than it feels. It sure was a bitch when it happened though." I say as I pull my shirt down and continue with the history lesson.
"Back to the forest and the horrible screeching sound we had heard. We pinpointed the noise as coming from a nearby copse and we crept in that direction as noiselessly as we could. All of a sudden Sable tripped and the demon was on us in seconds. We wrestled it to the ground, but even with four of us pouncing upon it, it threw us off like we were a piece of newspaper that had blown in on a breeze. I, being the brave fellow I believed myself to be, immediately got up off the ground and flung myself at it, I think I'll call it Darcy from now on in the story. So remember, the demon's name is Darcy. Stop your snickering and listen up."
"Anyway, to make a long story short this demon carved these ruts in my back and no one knew if I was going to live or die for six weeks. Needless to say the concert was cancelled and we never played another concert again."
"How do you feel now Aron?"
Aron's POV
My mind is whirling in a thousand different directions at once. I can't seem to grasp what Willy's been saying. Everything seems to be a blur and I can't seem to see clearly. It's all getting so dark and I'm so cold and dizzy. My head is going in spirals and I am spinning out of control. I'm falling down a long tunnel. It just keeps going and going and I keep falling and falling with no end in sight. Where is the bottom and why am I screaming when there's no one to hear me? I just keep spinning and spinning and spinning......

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Willy's POV
"Sable and I have lived for many years. We're talking hundreds of years and many lives. I remember back 750 years and I could have been around earlier but don't remember. Sable has been around 300 years that she knows about. Rom was also around as long as I was. We are waiting for him to come back but if he did kill himself then he can never come back again. Another thing Brenin has also been around many years and was once human."
"There are evil things that inhabit the Earth and beings like us are around to protect innocent humans. We may look human but there are many things that are different about us." adds Sable.
"Right, we can talk telepathically with beings like ourselves. Don't worry we can't read humans' minds. Right before Rom died, I had a run in with the "thing" that has been wreaking havoc on us and I lost all my powers. Sable can shape shift, which I used to be able to do, and so can Brenin. Bet you didn't know Brenin was one of us did you? He and Sable speak telepathically. He has also had a human shape but not in this life. At one time, we were all in human bodies and shared many
adventures."
Do I tell him everything or just what I think he needs to know? I think I'll just cover the last 100 years.
"Years ago, in our last lifetime, there were four of us. Rom (then known as Tom), myself (known as Bill), Brenin (known as Georg) and we haven't been able to locate the fourth member who was known as Gustav. We were in a band called Tokio Hotel and we travelled all over the world. Sable was one of our assistants."
"We could travel anywhere and no one suspected that we were there for anything else but a concert." Sable added.
"When the time is right we will tell you about some of the battles we have fought. We don't always win and sometimes we don't come back at all, like Gustav. He may be here but his memory may have been wiped clean when he returned. Eventually he will remember and will come here. This house has been our meeting place for many centuries. Granted, the house isn't the same but the location hasn't changed."
Aron's POV
Good grief, centuries old, how can that be? I don't know if I can wrap my mind around that concept. Could I be one of them? Is that why I had this strong pull to come to this place? Is that why I was attacked?
"Do you think I could be one of you?"
"I don't know but there are too many things happening to you to be circumstantial." said Willy. "There are hundreds of us all over the world fighting the evil."
"It's a lot to take in all at once but I think I understand more than before. It's hard to believe that Brenin has been human. What about Maebh and the pups?"
"We're not sure about them yet", said Sable. "They may be what we think they are. So far I have had no communication from Maebh but it could still happen. We don't know if she has been transmigrated or not. Hopefully she will help us even if she can't understand. At least she can understand Brenin and that may be how we have to communicate."
"I guess you could call us witches. We live over and over again trying to right the wrongs of evil. When we die, we go to the Summerland where we rest and recuperate until it's time to return to our quest. Each time we return the evil is stronger but so are we. For all we know, you may be one of us."
Aron's POV
"One of you? I may be a witch too? Is that why I have such strange thoughts all the time and why I seem to sense things before they happen?
"Probably, but we'll have to wait and see. You may be one of us but just not fully activated yet. Be patient." says Willy.
Sure be patient. That's easy for him to say. He already knows everything there is to know about himself. Let's put this into perspective. Everything that has happened in my life has led me to this. Is the reason I feel such a pull to this place because I've been here before?
"I'm not sure how I feel about all this but I'm willing to listen and learn. I hope you can both help me because this is all so overwhelming and really hard to take in."
Willy's POV
Poor Aron. I remember the first time I realized something was different about me and what a shock to the system it was.
"Now I will tell you about one of the battles we have fought."
"Back in 2010, we were on a concert tour of Europe. We went to France, Sweden, Russia, and so many other countries. We didn't fight a battle in every city but the one that is foremost in my mind was the one in Russia. We had arrived in Moscow earlier in the day we were set to perform. We settled into our hotel rooms. I had the two dogs in my room of course so that Rom would be free to invite a lady (and I use the term lightly) to his if he so wished. We all congregated in my room and ordered room service. Sable came in and joined us along with a few of the rest of the crew. We decided to play cards for awhile and enjoy being in a stationary room rather than a moving bus. After about an hour everybody but the four members of the band and Sable wandered off to do their own thing. The rest of us were just quietly talking when there was a knock at the door."

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Aron's POV
"No problem, Willy. Take your time. I'll stay here with her and the wolves until you get back. I think we should look at Brenin's wounds, they seem to be bleeding too much."
"Okay, I'll be as fast as I can."
First me, then Brenin and now Sable, what's going on and what's causing this? I think Willy and Sable know a lot more than they're letting on. If we're going to fight this together then they need to share more information with me. If I'm going to die, then I want to know why.
"It's okay, Brenin. Calm down boy. Maebh it's okay, when Willy comes back we'll try to make him more comfortable." Before I think of what I'm doing I pat her on the head. When I realize what I've done I wait for her to nip at me or growl. She's licking my hand. "Thanks Maebh. I love you too."
"I'm here Aron and I brought more bandages. Let's take a look at Brenin."
"Oh, my gawd, he's bleeding again Willy."
"I know. Its okay, we'll do the bandages up tighter this time. Luckily we have this antibiotic cream because these wounds aren't scratches. Something has gouged really deep. If we can't control the bleeding we'll have to find a veterinarian. I just hope it doesn't come to that. Can you imagine what a vet would say when they see four wolves in our living room?"
"You're right. What's the matter Sable? Are you okay? Catch her Willy. She's going to throw herself off the couch."
Sable's face is pure white. She looks like she's going into shock. I better get a bucket she looks like she's going to throw up. I grab the first thing I can find, an ice bucket. Oh well, it'll have to do. "Here Sable, if you have to be sick, use this."
Sable's POV
I feel so dizzy and I think I'm going to be sick. Oh no, I hate this. At least my head doesn't ache as much as it did. There, that should be
it. I don't think there's anything left in me to purge.
"I'm sorry guys. I feel so stupid and helpless. I can't sleep so we might as well talk about what we're going to do. I also think Willy that we should give Aron more information so he can decide if he wants to continue on this path or go somewhere else and perhaps stay safe."
"That's a good idea." says Aron, "Why don't you tell me what's going on and what you think we should expect."
Willy's POV
"Okay, but you have to listen and not interrupt Aron. What we're going to tell you is pretty far fetched but try to hear it with an open mind. Everything we say is true and really happened whether you believe it or not."
"I will definitely listen with an open mind. After everything that's happened how could I do otherwise?"

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Aron's POV
Why's Willy banging on the door and yelling? Why doesn't he just open it, it's not locked.
"Stop howling you pups. Willy, what's going on? What's the matter with Sable?"
"She fell and hit her head. I'll just put her here on the couch. How's Brenin?"
"He seems to be resting a little easier now that Maebh and the pups are safe. How did she hit her head?"
"I'm not sure. I came upon her after she'd fallen and didn't see it. She kept saying that she saw Rom."
"But she couldn't possibly because he's dead and buried isn't he?"
"That's what we thought but I saw him too. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but it really was him."
"It's pretty miserable out there. Maybe you both saw a shadow or something that looked like Rom. I know both of you miss him so much."
"No, I thought that at first too but it really was Rom or something that was the spitting image of him. I can't worry about it right now. We have to make sure that Sable is okay."
Sable's POV
I'm walking down a long hall, where does it lead? Oh look, there's Rom. 'Wait for me Rom. I want to talk to you.' I guess he doesn't hear me so I'll have to follow him. What is this place? So many doors on each side, I wonder what's behind them? He's disappearing I better hurry up and catch him.
I get to the end of the hallway and look left (which is the direction he took) but he's not there. I look to the right but that hall is empty too. Where did he go? I'll just wander down here a bit and try some of the doors.
I try the first door but it's locked, so is the second and the third. What now? I have to find out if Rom is behind any of the doors. Oh well, onward I go. There must be 30 doors to check. What if he's not behind any of them? Then what do I do?
I'm getting tired of trying all these doors. If one of them doesn't open soon I will have to leave. I can't stay here forever. What's that, it looks like one of the doors is opening. Who's there? Oh my gawd, that arm with the talons, what is it? Could this be the creature that hurt Aron? Oh no, it has Rom's face. What's going on? I don't understand.
Who's that calling my name? They sound so far away. I want to answer but I can't. My mouth doesn't seem to want to work.
Willy's POV
"Sable,. Sable, wake up. You have to come back to us darlin'. Come on, wake up."
There her eyes are opening. She's coming around.
"Oh, Willy, it was awful."
"What was sweetie? What was awful?"
Sable's POV
"Oh, Willy, I saw Rom but he went running down this hall and I chased him. I searched and searched but couldn't find him, and then this creature came out of one of the doors and it had Rom's face. I think that it was Aron's attacker. Was I dreaming?"
"I don't know Sable. But now that we're all here and the wolves are safe we can start making plans on what we are going to do."
"I just can't think right now. My head aches too much. Can I have an aspirin please?"
"Okay, but only one. If you have a concussion we don't want to give you too not being able to wake up."
"Here they are."
"Thanks Aron. Okay Sable I'm going to sit you up now. Easy, I've got you. Open your mouth." I pop an aspirin in and give her a drink from the glass of water that Aron brought. "There you should be starting to feel better real soon. You have to stay with us now, no falling asleep until we make sure you're okay."
"No, drink slowly or you'll choke again. Okay, Aron, can you please watch her while I get changed?"
Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Sable's POV
I've searched everywhere and I can't find them. I don't want to head back to the house without them. I need to find them for Brenin. He shouldn't have to worry about them when he's fighting to get well. Maybe I'd better head back. I never noticed that the sky is getting quite black. Darn it's starting to rain, I'd better run.
What just happened? All of a sudden I'm flat on my face on the ground. Thank heaven I landed on a pile of leaves or I'd probably...What is that shadow? It's coming closer and I can't seem to move. Where are my knights in shining armour when I need them? The shadow is starting to take shape. Oh my gawd, it's Rom but how can that be? He's dead. I must have banged my head when I landed. It can't be Rom, it can't be.
Willy's POV
"That's it, Sable's not back so I'm going to find her. She needs to know that all the wolves are safe. I'll be back when I've found her."
I grab a raincoat for myself and put it on. I grab another one for Sable because the sky is getting dark and it feels like it's going to rain. I'll never find her if we have a storm. Which direction did she go in? I'll just go up this path for awhile and then start in another direction if I don't find her.
I hear voices coming from behind those bushes. Sable and no way, it looks like Rom but it can't be. What's going on? He's disappearing into thin air. "Sable, are you alright? I pat her face and her eyes flutter open. "What happened? Why did I see Rom or was it just my imagination?"
Sable's POV
Dark, so dark. I hear Willy calling me. I slowly come to and hear loud screaming. Wait, screaming is coming from me. "Oh my gawd, Willy, I thought I saw Rom but that's impossible. He's dead isn't he?"
"Sable, I know he's dead but remember it was foretold that strange things would come to pass before the prophecy can be fulfilled. Maybe Rom is just trying to warn you about something."
"No, he looked like he wanted to kill me. There was such hatred in his eyes. That thing couldn't have been Rom could it?"
"I don't know. I only caught a glimpse before it took off but it sure looked like Rom to me. Somebody's playing tricks with our minds."
Sable's POV
I struggle into a sitting position and hold my head in my hands. "I have such a headache and I'm so wet and miserable but I have to find Maebh and the pups."
"It's okay they're at home with Brenin. Now grab my hands and I'll help you up. Easy, not too fast."
I'm so dizzy. I must have really bashed my head good when I fell. Maybe that's why I thought I saw Rom. No, Willy saw him too so I guess I'm not losing my mind unless he's losing his mind too.
Willy gives me a hand up. "Thanks Willy, you're always coming to my rescue. I hate being a damsel in distress. You know how I feel about anyone who plays that role."
"Here, put this on. It'll at least keep you a little warmer until I can get you home."
I try to put my arms into the raincoat that he holds up for me but they don't want to work. Willy grabs my left arm and threads it through the left sleeve and then does the same with my right arm. I feel so sick to my stomach. I'll just hold on to Willy's arm and he can help me get home.
Willy's POV
I put my arm around Sable's shoulder and we start down the path for home. She is shaking so hard and now she's starting to retch.
"Okay baby, let it come. You'll feel better after you get rid of everything."
I'll just hold her head while she throws up. Poor thing, it's been pretty traumatizing for her. I wish I could make it all go away but I can't. It's something that she has to face head on, but she won't do it alone if I have anything to say about it. I can't protect her 24/7 but I can at least try.
"Feel better? Good, let's get you home before you come down with pneumonia."
She can hardly walk. I better pick her up and carry her the rest of the way. Oh no, she's passed out. I hope she doesn't have a concussion. There's the house now.
"Aron, open the door." I yell.
Sable's POV

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Aron's POV
Sable sounds panicked. I race down the stairs and come face to face with the biggest wolf I've ever seen. I don't know if it's a male or female but judging from the size of this one it's probably a male.
"Holy crap, you scared me. What's wrong and why is there a wolf in the living room?"
"This is my friend Brenin. I just found him by the lake and he's been badly wounded. I need helping cleaning up his wounds because I can't do it by myself. Don't worry I've known him for a long time and he won't hurt you unless you hurt me."
"That's good to know. What do you want me to do?"
"Grab that blanket from the couch for him to lie on. I'll go get some supplies and we'll fix him up as well as we can."
I rip the blanket from the couch and place it on the carpet. The wolf looks at me with such soulful eyes and with such pain.
"That's it Brenin, just lie on the blanket. Sable will be right back and we'll make you as comfortable as we can."
He seems to understand everything I say to him because he did exactly as I asked. Oh my gawd, he just licked my hand. That's an experience I'll be able to tell my children. Here comes Sable.
"These wounds on Brenin's back look just like the ones on my arm. They're about the same length and depth. What's going on? Why is this happening?"
Sable's POV
I can't concentrate on what Aaron is asking. "We have to fix Brenin quickly so I can go find Maebh and the pups. They won't stay in the house but we can make up a nice place for them in one of the outbuildings. As long as they can come and go by themselves they might stay until Brenin recovers."
"I'm coming with you to find them."
"No, someone needs to be here with Brenin. He probably shouldn't be left by himself. I'll be fine. Besides, they might not come if I have you with me. They don't know you and they hardly know me so I better do this alone."
"Fine, but if you're not back in two hours, Brenin or no Brenin, I'm coming to look for you."
"Maybe Willy will be back by then. There all finished. Bren, you need to lie down and stay quiet. Try to rest while I find Maebh. I'll bring her here so you can make sure she and the babes are okay. I'll be back as quickly as I can, Aron. Take care of him please."
Aron's POV
Here I am with a wounded wolf. What if he attacks me? Sable says he won't but she's not here so what do I do if he does? Oh good, his eyes are closing. I'll go get my book and I can sit on the couch and read while he sleeps. Brenin is such a beautiful animal. Who or what could have done this to him? He's whimpering and shivering. I gently put a blanket on top of him and gingerly touch the top of his head. Poor thing. Oh good, he's starting to calm down. Hopefully, he'll sleep more peacefully now.
Willy's POV
I've searched everywhere but no Brenin to be found. Wait a minute, is that him? No that wolf is too white, maybe it's his mate. "Maebh is that you? My name is Willy and I'm a friend of Sable's. I need to talk to Brenin, can you show me where he is Girl?"
There are the pups over by the bushes. I let Maebh smell my hand. She licks it. She may smell Sable on me and that's why she's not attacking me. "Okay Girl, why don't we go search for him?" She's following me and here come the pups. "Let's go towards Sable's house, he may have gone to see her."
As we approach the house, everything is so still and quiet. Oh my gawd, what was that horrible howl. "What's the matter Maebh? Why are you so agitated? Please don't start howling too."
Aron opens the door and Maebh races into the living room. The pups quickly follow her and I bring up the rear. As Aron shuts the door behind me, I say, "What happened to Brenin? How did he get hurt?"
Aron's POV
"I don't know. Sable found him like this earlier today and now she's looking for Maebh and the pups. Where did you find them?"
"I was looking for Brenin and came across these three. I decided to bring them here rather than traipsing around the woods searching for him. Is she home yet?"
"No, but hopefully she'll return soon. I don't know what to do about the pain Brenin's in. I hate to see him like this."

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Willy's POV
Let's hope everything works out okay. Now that Aron's here I hope I'm not wrong about him. I'll have to keep a close watch on him for awhile. No sense worrying Sable about him yet though. I'll just be very vigilant. She must stay safe!
"Okay, how about a game of Scrabble? We can play to see who makes supper."
"That's a great idea Willy, I'm up for it. What about you Aron?"
"Sure, it'll help to pass the time. I just want to let you know that I'm an awesome Scrabble player and I expect to beat you both very easily."
"Right, and I'm going to believe that." I said. "I've been known to be pretty good at Scrabble myself, so watch your back."
Sable's POV
I wish my life could be like this all the time. It's really peaceful and calm right now and I'm going to hang on to this feeling as long as I can. Now, to beat the boys at Scrabble!
Aron's POV
She is so beautiful. I could really fall for her in a big way. That long red hair and those green eyes. I could drown in those eyes. I better watch out or this could get more complicated than I want it to get. "First word - zodiac. Count my points please Willy."
Willy's POV
I'll continue to play for awhile but I really must go talk to Brenin. He'll let me know what to do for Sable. I only hope that I can still understand him. Not having my powers sucks and I have to find a way to get them back. Anyway, now for my word.
Sable's POV
Well, Aron was right, he sure can play Scrabble. He's already trounced us three times. I think we'll have to just concede to him. Guess who has to cook supper? Willy! It looks good on him, ha, ha. I think I'll go for a short walk and clear my head. "Guys, that's enough Scrabble for me. I admit that you're the better player Aron. We'll have to give it a go again so I can try to win at least one game. Anyway, I'm going for a walk around the property. Make sure everything is okay and no, I don't need anyone to babysit me."
Willy's POV
"Okay, Sable. I'm going out for a while too. I'll be home in plenty of time to cook supper, ugh! You know you're going to get my pasta dish eh? Don't look like that Sab, it's not that bad. You'll love it Aron, I make it with milk, ketchup, cheese, and mustard. Don't screw up your face. It's not half bad. Try it before you make a face, okay?"
Aron's POV
I nod but inside I'm gagging. Milk, ketchup, cheese and mustard? Where is this guy from? It sounds gross but if I want to stay I guess I'll have to eat everything they give me. I hope Willy doesn't poison us.
Well, if everybody is going out I may as well do some reading in my room. "I'll see you guys when you get back. I'm going to read in my room for awhile. Also, I really want to thank you both for everything you're doing for me. I don't know where I would be right now if you hadn't found me Willy."
"That's okay, Aron," replied Willy. "You are welcome to stay as long as you like, right Sable?"
Sable's POV
I nod and grab my coat. I can hardly wait to get outside into the fresh air. I don't know why but suddenly I feel like I'm suffocating. I hope this ends soon in one way or another. If I have to die then so be it, as long as this is finally over.
I head to my spot. I need to clear my head and I can totally relax there. There's Brenin and he's limping. "Brenin, what happened to you? You're bleeding. Here, come with me." I head toward the water, rip the bottom of my t-shirt off and dip it in the lake. What is going on, where are Maebh and the pups? Are they okay? "Oh Brenin, I can't tend to you here. We have to go to the house. Do you think you can make it? I'll make sure I walk slowly."
"Where is your mate, Bren? Where are the pups? Are they okay?"
He looks at me with such pain in his eyes I can hardly bear it. I lead him towards the house. I'll look for the rest of his family after I take care of his wounds. I hate making him walk but at least it isn't too far.
I fling open the front door. "Aron, are you here?"
"What is it Sable?"
"Can you come here and help me for a minute?"
Willy's POV
Let's hope everything works out okay. Now that Aron's here I hope I'm not wrong about him. I'll have to keep a close watch on him for awhile. No sense worrying Sable about him yet though. I'll just be very vigilant. She must stay safe!

I head toward the water, rip the bottom of my t-shirt off and dip it in the lake.
Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Sable's POV
Wow, I can't believe been asleep for four hours. I guess I must have needed it. Time to get up and figure out what to make for supper. Dusk is starting to set in and I wonder where Willy is and if he'll be home soon. I can't plan supper if I don't know when to expect him. Men...you'd think they would use the few brains the Goddess gave them! They can't say how long they'll be gone or where they're going or who they're going with. It's not like women ask much of them, just a little consideration is all. Never mind, don't get me started. Oh, that sounds like him now. No, I hear two voices, who's he dragged home now? Has he found another orphan? Boy, if it isn't a dog or a cat, it's some poor person he found in his travels.
Willy POV
"Sable, I'm home and I've brought company. Come on in Aron," I said as I held the door open wider. I didn't realize I had been gone so long, the sun is already starting to set and I was starved. But first I need to check on Aron's wounds, don't want infection to set in. "Aron, there's a bathroom just down the hall there on your left and we'll check that arm of yours. Sable, is the first-aid kit still in there?"
"Yes, in the bottom cupboard on the left." I hope he heard me because he's already in the bathroom. Moves fast that one? Now, why does he have Aron here and why is he carrying a bag which looks suspiciously like a suitcase. Somebody is going to give me some answers and real soon.
"Great thanks Sable. Ah, here it is. Okay Aron off with the shirt and lay your arm on the counter. Just a sec, let's put this towel down so it's not so hard. This might hurt a bit, it looks like some of the gauze is sticking. Let me dampen this towel and we'll lay it on top for a minute. The moisture will make it easier to get the gauze off and then it won't hurt so much. Is that a little better? Does it still hurt? Should I be more gentle? Hey, don't swear, take it like a man. I guess it doesn't help a lot, with that remark. OOWW! What was that for? Why'd you hit me in the arm, to prove your other arm works?"
Aron's POV
He is starting to piss me off. If he keeps talking to me like he's my nurse and I'm his patient, I'm going to hit him with my good arm. Oh, screw it, I'm gonna hit him anyway. "You idiot, I'm not an invalid you know, treat me with a little respect and don't talk down to me."
Willy's POV
"Fine, sorry. I'll be on my best behaviour from now on. Next time, you can bandage yourself up which I would love to see." Ungrateful jerk. I should just let him suffer and do it one-handed by himself. Then he might appreciate the help I've given him. "Aron, do you want me to finish this or not?"
"Yes please. You know we need to be on the same side if we're going to keep Sable safe and stay safe ourselves. How are you going to explain me to her?"
"I'm going to try something new. I'm going to tell her the truth, all of it. Listen carefully you might learn something yourself. There, that ought to do it. Your arm is looking a lot better, not so red and it's not oozing anymore. How does it feel?"
"Not bad, it's feeling a little numb but there's not much pain anymore. Thanks."
"No problem, let's go join Sable for lunch and the inquisition."
Sable's POV
Here they come and somebody better have an explanation for what's going on. Willy looks kind of sheepish and Aron won't look at me. "Okay, spill, what's up?"
"Aron needs a place to stay for a few days so I offered him a room here. Now I'm going to tell you what's going on but you need to promise you won't go ballistic on me."
Wow, I can't believe that Aron lived through all that. Poor guy! I really don't need any more protectors but if it helps Aron to stay here then so be it.
"That's awful Aron and you are most welcome to stay here for as long as you want. But just know that I don't need any help from anyone. I can handle my own life my own way. That doesn't mean that I won't need you to help with dishes and other stuff around the house, I just don't need you to protect me. Okay?"
"No problem, you won't even know I'm here and I'll definitely help with everything."

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
I grab a bowl from the dish drainer and quickly fill it with warm water and head back upstairs. On the way, I stop at the linen cupboard and grab some clean towels. I hurry back to the bathroom and find Aron almost passed out on the floor. I drop the kit and towels and put the bowl of water on the dresser. I gently help lift him up and lead him to the bedroom where I settle him on the bed. He is so cold and clammy. I worry that he's going into shock. I lightly place the blanket over his
shoulders and leave his left arm free.
I dip a towel in the water and gingerly start to wash the blood from his forearm. He winces but doesn't make a sound. After I've cleaned all the blood away, I get a really good look at the marks. They look like they were made by a wild animal, but I don't know any animal that would leave puncture wounds like this, long and pretty deep. I put ointment all over his arm and finish off by covering the whole area with gauze, I tape it securely in place.
Aron is looking at me and his eyes are starting to glaze over. I hope he isn't going to pass out on me. I have to find out what happened to him.
"Aron, stay with me Buddy. I need you to look at me and tell me what happened."
"I don't know. I thought I was having a dream but when I came to I found these marks on my arm. It can't have really happened can it?"
I didn't know what to tell him. I knew that it could happen but I wasn't sure whether to tell him what I thought it was. Everything was occurring so fast and I needed to find out what part Aron played in all this?
"Have you any idea what it was that attacked you?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Try me," I said, "I've heard a few wild stories in my day."
So Aron proceeded to relate to me what he thought had happened to him. It was as I thought. The Evil One is coming and he has started with this man. I don't know what part Aron plays in the prophecy but he may be the one to save Sable.
"Okay, we know it couldn't be a dream," I said, "If it was, there wouldn't be any cuts on your arm. So, we have to figure this out. I have some thoughts about what happened but I don't know whether you would believe me or not."
"Willy, I'm about to believe anything you tell me. I realize you don't know anything about me but this creature was real, I know it was. I'm not sure how I know, but I do. From the time I was small, strange things have happened to me. The latest thing, besides this, was my parents' deaths. I was accused of murdering them because the fire that killed them was found to be arson. The only thing that cleared me was the fact that I wasn't in town that day. After they cleared me of any suspicion, I came here to get away from all the publicity. I have to find out why these things are going on and what I can do about it. I need to find out why my parents had to die."
I looked at him and spoke, "I have to tell you that Sable is very 'special', she can do and see things that most people can't. I can't tell you the whole story but suffice it to say that if anything bad happens to her, the whole world will suffer. It's something she has lived with for many years, longer than you could even imagine. She also
thinks that she has the power to kill people that she loves. The few people she has allowed herself to get close to have all died in some horrible way. I know it's not Sable's fault that these things came to pass but I can't convince her of that. It looks like you may be part of her future, so you and I have to come up with a plan that will work. I don't know if she will approve or not but I want you to pack some things and come stay with us. There is safety in numbers and I think we could
help each other."
He looked at me like I was crazy but then he thought about what I said. "I'll do it. Let me put some things together to take with me and we can go right away."
As he left the room, I wondered if I was doing the right thing. Well it was too late now it would have to work out. Hopefully, Aron can help and not hinder us along this path we must tread. I know Sable will try to convince him that she doesn't need any help, but with two of us, she will have to accept the assistance we can provide. She just can't do it all on her own...she just can't.
I grab a bowl from the dish drainer and quickly fill it with warm water and head back upstairs. On the way, I stop at the linen cupboard and grab some clean towels. Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Willy's POV
This could be a problem. I'd better take a close look at this guy before he comes to dinner. He may be trouble or not but I can't let him get close to Sable or he could die. Who is he and why is he here at this point in time? Is it all innocent or is he here to cause problems? I can't help feeling like this and I have to make sure nobody gets close to her before it's time. I think I'll walk over to the Sloan place after we're finished lunch. I'll just tell Sable I'm going for a walk. So far, she hasn't asked me where I was this morning and I'm not about to tell her.
I put the dishes in the sink I'll get to them later when I return. "Sable, I'm going to go for a walk around the property to make sure everything is okay."
She nods her head and says that she thinks she'll lie down for a short nap and she'll see me when I return. I head out the door and turn toward the right path. I'm just going to have a quick visit with this Aron and see what he's all about.
Sable's POV
I'm so tired. I need to go to bed but first I'll do the dishes. I put the plug in the sink and start the water. I add the dish soap and load the lunch dishes into the water. As I grab the first plate I can't help letting my mind wander to what is going to happen. Can I prevent it or will I have to die to make it come to pass?
Aron's POV
What's happening to me? I must get out of here. I need to find out what's happening to me? It can't be time yet, the rest hasn't come to pass. I feel like I'm in a dense fog and I can't find my way out. I tear and scratch trying to discover a way to break through, but I'm being grabbed by a long claw-like arm. What did I do to deserve this? Now it's holding me in its vice-like grip. I thrash around trying to break free but it only holds tighter. The claws start to dig into my forearm. Aaaaagh, my arm feels like knives are being thrust into it and the pain is excruciating. I must not pass out. When will it stop? Oh God, I don't know how much longer I can last.
Willy's POV
There's the house but I don't see anyone about. Where is Aron? What's that? I hear it again, a high pitched shrieking. I run to the front door but it's locked. I hurry to the back and luckily the kitchen door is open. I slow down before I enter the house, I don't know what's there but I don't want to be blindsided. Nothing in the kitchen, I step into the hallway and cautiously look around. No sounds but a soft whimpering coming from the second floor. I head up the stairs two at a
time and look in the first room, no one there. There in the second room, I see a ball in the corner. Just as I approach it I realize it's a person. He turns to look at me with tears pouring down his face. The look of anguish on his face rips at my heart. This must be Aron, but what's wrong with him? Why is he crying? He holds out his left arm and I see blood running down. There are long claw-like marks running from his elbow to his wrist. Some parts of his arm are almost in shreds. I
gently help him up from the floor and lead him to the bathroom. I sit him on the toilet seat and start rummaging around for something to clean him up. I grab a towel, no don't know how long it's been there and don't want to take any chances on infection. Maybe I should take him to the hospital. "Aron, I'm Willy, a friend of Sable's. I'm here to help you. What happened? Where is the animal that did this to you? I'm taking you to a hospital."
"No," Aron pleaded. "No hospital, just patch me up I'll be fine. There is a first-aid kit in the kitchen, please just wrap up my arm. I'll be okay."
I'm not sure whether to listen to him or not but in the meantime I head for the kitchen to get the first-aid kit. "Where is it?" I yell.
"The second cupboard from the right, middle shelf."
"Got it!"

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Sable's POV
"No, no, I'm a photographer. I shoot pictures of animals not shoot animals. I couldn't shoot any living thing."
"I am so glad. I don't think I could stand to speak to anyone who uses animals in that way."
We continue to walk and talk and I learn that he is 22, just two years older than me. He grew up in Germany but has decided to live in the States now. He was adopted right after he was born and when he learned that his birth parents were American, he felt the need to try to find them. He had no brothers or sisters, just himself, as his adoptive parents had recently passed away in a horrible fire. He decided he needed a change of scenery so he he was. We finally get to the path to the Sloan house.
With his hand outstretched, "It was a real pleasure meeting you Sable, I hope we can see each other again."
I shake his hand and reply, "That would be great. This is my cellphone number. You should come for dinner sometime and meet my friend Willy."
"Just call and I'll be there. Take care and keep in touch."
I watch him leave and feel a little lonely inside. He seems so nice and normal. Not what I'm used to at all but it doesn't matter because I can never get close to him, ever.
Aron's POV
I must get closer to her, it's the only way to protect her. She must never suspect who I really am or the prophecy will not come to pass. I must talk to Willy before I see Sable again to see if he recognizes me. He could be my biggest ally.
Willy's POV
Where is that girl? Every time I go looking for her she's nowhere around. I'll bet she's gone to her favourite spot on the mountain. Maybe she'll find some peace there, as she's certainly not going to find it in the city. This place will be good for us both and now that I've accomplished the first part of my plan I can rest a bit easier. I think I'll make us something to eat and when she comes home we can have a nice lunch and talk about where we go from here. Soup and sandwich is about all I can come up with, wish I was a better cook but it'll have to do. I hear her coming now, better get the table set.
Sable's POV
Something sure smells good, is Willy cooking? I didn't think so, it's only soup, but it was so thoughtful of him to have lunch made. He even set the table, will wonders never cease! I yell, "I'm home and everything looks and smells so good. I'm just going to go wash my hands for lunch."
I come back and sit down at the table. Willy puts a bowl of vegetable soup in front of me and an egg salad sandwich. I must be starved because I scarf the food down so fast I start to burp. "I'm sorry, my bad."
Willy laughs at me and asks me if I was up the mountain this morning?
"Yes, it was beautiful and peaceful. I saw Brenin and his mate Maebh. They have two cubs, a female who I named Seudag and the male is Eirian. They are such a strong family and the cubs are beautiful. Seudag looks just like her mother, all white and proud while Eirian looks just like his father, grey and majestic."
"I'm so glad that you found Brenin. I know you miss him when you aren't here. Did you do anything else?"
"I met a man up there, his name is Aron. He's living in the Sloan place and has come here from Germany. He seems really nice and I plan on inviting him to supper soon."
Sable's POV

Do You Believe In Magic? - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Sable's POV
The fresh air is so wonderful. I haven't smelled air that isn't filled with car exhaust, cigarette smoke or perfume for so long. I unpack quickly so I can head outside and go for a walk. I put the bathroom items away and head downstairs. Willy is nowhere to be seen but that's normal, he always disappears for the first while when we come to the mountain.
I grab a jacket and head up the back of the mountain. I walk for about ten minutes and come to my spot. I know I'm not the only one to come here but I still consider it to be my special place. The view is spectacular, I can see the whole valley from here. There is a small stream and lots of wildflowers. I take my jacket off and settle on a good sized rock where I can watch everything going on around me. I hear a soft growl from behind me and I turn and smile, it's my friend Brenin. Brenin is a grey wolf that I have known since he was a pup. "Hi Brenin, how are you? Where's your family?" He approaches me and I reach over to pet his head. He is such a majestic beast, and I feel no fear when I am this close to him. I don't remember when I first laid eyes on Brenin but it was a very long time ago. We have been through many lifetimes together. You probably didn't know that some wolves live many lives, just as I do. Brenin and I have travelled many long and dangerous roads, and this may be our final journey.
"Oh, Brenin, I miss you so much. Things have been getting real bad lately. I don't know if I can continue to follow the path I'm on. I'm so glad to be here and to be with you again. Where is your family?" He nudges my leg with his snout and gently points me in the direction of the trees. I follow him carefully picking my way through the bushes. "There you are," I cry when I catch sight of his mate and two strong cubs. She is majestic, proud and very protective of her young. She's licking my outstretched hand. I decide to call her Maebh and the cubs would be Seudag for the girl and Eirian for the boy. I haven't heard any of those names in centuries so it will feel good to speak them aloud again.
I hear footsteps approaching, Brenin, Maebh and the cubs head up the mountain where they turn and howl before racing off into the forest. I turn and there is a stranger approaching. Who is this stranger? He looks to be over 6 feet tall with broad shoulders and a small waist. He has raven hair and the bluest eyes I've ever seen. He's wearing a pair of baggy jeans, blue t-shirt, red plaid jacket and Nike runners. He gets closer and his face lights up in a smile.
"Hi, thank heaven, I thought I'd never find anyone to help me? I'm lost and need to find my way back down." he said. "Well, you're lucky that you came upon me. Noone ever comes up here much anymore. Anyway, you just follow the path over there and it will take you down." He gets closer to me and sticks out his hand, "My name's Aron, do you live around here?" "Yes, where are you from?" "I've come from Hamburg and I've never been here before. It is a beautiful mountain. Did I just see you with some wolves? Weren't you nervous?" I give him a querying look and say, "Why would I be nervous of one of nature's creatures? I wouldn't hurt them and they know it."
Why is he still here? I've shown him the path to take but he still stands here. What does he really want and where is he really from? I don't know but I intend to find out. "I'm leaving now to start walking down, why don't you follow me? We can get acquainted while we walk."
"I'd like that. I didn't get your name."
"Sorry, it's Sable."
"Well, hi Sable, it's a real pleasure to meet you. Do you live on the mountain?"
"Not really, I'm just vacationing in our family home right now. Where are you staying?"
"I've rented the Sloan place. They're friends of my father so they offered it to me for as long as I need it."
The Sloan place was directly next door to our house but it was still separated by many metres of forest. He had to have come up the same path I did to get to where I found him (or he found me...), so why didn't I see him go by me? "Have you been here long?"
"Just a few days, it's very beautiful country. I hope to do lots of hiking and shooting."
I can't help it, I shout, "SHOOTING! How can you shoot a defenceless animal?"
