If life were but a dream
And people not so fake
Then love would never hurt
And hearts would never break.

We'd all go through life
With smiles on our faces
Waiting for someone
To put us through our paces.

The ups and the downs
The highs and the lows
We all have to accept
Those that we chose.

Whether good or bad
Whether wrong or right
There's someone for everyone
To make our hearts light.

Sometimes there's more than one
Who enters your domain
And deals a hand that bruises
And causes so much pain.

That you want to tear your hair out
And run screaming down the street
But you can't because you're too civilized
